microneedling & nanoneedling
*FUN FACT: Did you know that MICRONEEDLING is searched on Google OVER 100X more than COSMETIC ACUPUNCTURE?
Roots Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine LLC is thrilled to add Microneedling & Nanoneedling as services to embrace the whole-body approach towards balancing health! We utilise the newest AcuMicro Plus+ Pen (18,000 rpm) with sterile, micro- and nano-needle cartridges with anti-backflow technology.
what is microneedling?
Microneedling Therapy also called Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), and Percutaneous (through the skin) Collagen Induction (PCI), is a nonsurgical treatment that penetrates your skin’s surface with tiny needles to improve its appearance. While this may sound a bit medieval, most skin rejuvenation treatments — whether laser or a chemical peel, for example — trigger a similar kind of natural, wound-healing response to create a structural & cosmetic benefit.
The mechanical action of the medical-grade, high-oscillating pen , AcuMicro Plus+ Pen allows the needles to puncture the skin and create a controlled injury at a specific depth. The 18,000 rpm of this newest technology prevents less drag over the skin, thereby reducing discomfort.
With microneedling, each puncture creates a micro-channel that triggers the bodies natural healing process to fill these micro wounds by producing new collagen and elastin in the papillary dermis. In addition, new capillaries are formed for improved blood supply. It does not “burn” your skin like peels or more invasive lasers; there is no recovery time following each session. Microneedling results in the production of new collagen and elastin; improvement in elasticity, skin tone (including stubborn melasma), texture (smooths), plumpness and firmness; as well as reduction in fine lines, wrinkles, scars, and pore size — all supporting a more radiant and youthful appearance.
Furthermore, we perform Microneedling in combination with natural Hyaluronic Acid and other natural serums (no synthetics) to hydrate and heal the skin. The micro-channels created by the needles can increase the skins ability to utilize the nutrients by up to 3,000 %, thereby allowing for deeper penetrations of topical serums for more effective results.
Microneedling is performed 1x month and can be combined with Nanoneedling and Facial Rejuvenation / Cosmetic Acupuncture sessions in between. Following a typical 4-6 monthly course or after you reach your target skin goals, follow up sessions every 6-8 weeks to provide continued & optimal benefits as skin cells naturally regenerate and renew.
What is nanoneedling?
Nanoneedling is used in combination with Microneedling to allow access to more sensitive areas such as the intraorbital ridge (the delicate skin around the eyes) and the upper lip, or for those who may be sensitive to Microneedling.
Nano needling uses the same type of oscillating motion to treat the skin but the cartridge encompasses 81 silicone tips vs the microneedling needle tip. These microscopic hair-like cones separate the cells within the epidermis to allow active products to be pushed into the skin. Nano-needling only affects the epidermis, treating within the upper 0.15 mm of the skin. The benefits of this serum infusion treatment include pigmentation reduction, exfoliation & increased cell turnover, skin rejuvenation and an immediate glow with no downtime.
Nanoneedling treatments can be done as frequently as weekly to exfoliate the skin.
Is there any downtime and what does after-care look like?
Microneedling & nanoneedling are efficient and straightforward procedures that allow you to return to your daily routine as soon as the treatment session is over. As a surface treatment, there are minimal side effects. Some individuals may experience mild tenderness, redness, or slight swelling in the treatment area(s); these typically resolve within a few hours after your procedure. It is best to avoid staying out in the sun or using harsh chemicals following treatments — we will provide an after-care list to help you optimize your experience.
Can microneedling & nanoneedling be combined with other modalities?
Both the Nano and Microneedling treatments induce cell turnover, serum infusion and provoke the healing process that results in skin transformation — these can both be combined with Facial Rejuvenation / Cosmetic Acupuncture and regular classical-style Acupuncture sessions to enhance the foundational / constitutional whole-body balance and healing from within.
Alongside other Western cosmetic & rejuvenation procedures, while Microneedling can certainly be added as an adjunctive therapy, it is advised to wait at least a month before receiving Microneedling. These would include: microdermabrasion, chemical peels, any laser skin resurfacing, botox injections, dermal fillers, and IPL, for example.
